Hi! Thanks for this list. Would you consider updating on your own set up in the future? Curious to know if you're still using dumb phone and screen zen. Thanks!

I hope I’m always iterating. I stopped using dumb phone a couple weeks ago. There’s this little glitch bc they are trying to override the animations that iPhone has to make it clean. But then, it causes some issues when Im going between apps. I tried to deal with it, but it annoyed me too much in the end.

Instead, I deleted nearly every single app icon (still accessible in my app library) with the exception of some I need to be able to tap quickly. On my bottom bar, I left phone, messages, notes, and camera. Then I put the rest (just six total) in a folder on my home screen.

I do still use ScreenZen to track my phone usage and to block/limit a few apps (Gmail, Substack). I think using this app consistently has really curbed a lot of my previous pointless pick-up habits. It too has some glitches, but nothing that has prevented me from using it. I wish it had better browser blocking abilities. I added both Facebook and Reddit websites to my block list, but I’ve never gotten those blocked for me by going through Chrome. Maybe it would be different if I used Safari, I haven’t tried it.

Wow! So many choices! I just set up Dumb Phone after reading this and I think it's the next step that I need. I've been without socials since Nov 7th and I've reduced my screen time by a lot, but I still sometimes click around on random apps to fill the void of filling time by scrolling. I think this will help a lot!

Yes! Tell me how you like it. It’s a hard adjustment tbh but to your point, it completely eliminated that habit. I realized yesterday that I hadn’t opened my news app in days, one that I use to often just tap on while bored.

Ok but what’s your favorite/personal stack??

I use a combo of DumbPhone and ScreenZen.

At first I was hesitant to keep DumbPhone around. But the data spoke for itself. My screen time was cut in half. Some apps that I use to open multiple times daily (like my news app), I completely forgot about opening. It’s a game changer.

Thank you! I extrapolated as much from the post itself but wanted to make sure I wasn’t missing anything 😊
